A railroad water stop that grew into a lake suburb
Irmo began as a February 1890 water stop on the Columbia, Newberry and Laurens Railroad, took its name from officials C.J. Iredell and H.C. Moseley, incorporated December 24, 1890, and grew substantially after Lake Murray formed between 1927 and 1930.
Updating kitchens in a mostly newer town
Because Irmo's real growth came after its 1890 founding, mostly following the 1927–1930 creation of Lake Murray, kitchen remodels here typically deal with mid-to-late-20th-century construction rather than 19th-century framing, which usually makes layout changes more predictable.
